Make room for what matters

Could Your Employer Help Pay for The Nurse UNRETREAT™?

Before assuming the entire investment has to come out of your pocket, ask.

The Nurse UNRETREAT™ | April 15-18, 2027 | The UNRETREAT™

A peaceful porch at The UNRETREAT™ in the Texas Hill Country

Before you assume the answer is no,
start the conversation.

Professional development doesn't always have to be paid entirely out of pocket.

Depending on your employer, position, benefits, or collective bargaining agreement, you may have access to funding for continuing nursing education, professional development, employee well-being, or other approved learning experiences.

And because participants at The Nurse UNRETREAT™ can access up to 12 contact hours of nursing continuing education, you may have another reason to start the conversation with your employer.

Reimbursement is never guaranteed.

But before you assume the answer is no, it's worth finding out what resources may already be available to you.

This Isn't a Traditional Nursing Conference. And That's the Point.

The Nurse UNRETREAT™ is deliberately different.

You won't spend four days sitting in a conference room watching presentations.

Instead, we've created an intimate gathering for just 20 nurses that combines connection, reflection, nature, personal growth, and flexible continuing education in a beautiful Texas Hill Country setting.

Participants will have access to up to 12 nursing CE contact hours through learning opportunities designed with restoration, relaxation, and growth in mind.

Our continuing education offerings will focus primarily on self-paced, individualized learning, with select small-group opportunities available throughout the UNRETREAT™.

Complete all 12 available contact hours.

Choose only the activities that interest you.

Or decide that a particular afternoon is better spent taking a walk, talking with another nurse, or sitting on the porch of your casita.

The CE is available to you. Your UNRETREAT™ does not revolve around it.

Where Could Funding Come From?

Every employer and benefit program is different, but there are several places worth exploring.

Continuing Education Benefits

If your employer provides reimbursement or an annual allowance for nursing continuing education, ask whether some or all of your UNRETREAT™ registration may qualify.

Nurses Feed Their Young® is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Florida State Board of Nursing.

Florida State Board of Nursing Provider Number: 50-42784

Participants will have access to up to 12 contact hours of nursing continuing education during The Nurse UNRETREAT™.

Your employer will determine whether the event and associated expenses qualify under its specific reimbursement policy.

Professional Development Funds

Some healthcare organizations provide funding beyond traditional clinical education.

Depending on your employer's policies, funding may be available for professional development, leadership development, continuing education, employee development, or other approved learning opportunities.

Ask your education department, nursing leadership, HR department, or benefits team what is available and what documentation is required.

Employee Well-Being or Workforce Initiatives

Some organizations invest in programs designed to support their workforce, employee engagement, professional sustainability, or nurse well-being.

The Nurse UNRETREAT™ includes experiences centered around connection, reflection, intentional living, personal growth, and opportunities to step away from the demands of everyday nursing.

Whether those elements qualify for financial support will depend entirely on your employer's program and policies.

Don't assume. Ask.

Union or Collective Bargaining Benefits

If you're represented by a union or professional association, review your available benefits.

Your agreement or member benefits may include education allowances, professional-development funding, training funds, or reimbursement for approved learning opportunities.

These benefits aren't always automatically offered.

Sometimes you have to request them.

What Makes The Nurse UNRETREAT™ More Than Time Away?

The Nurse UNRETREAT™ was created to give nurses something traditional professional events don't always provide:

Space to learn differently.

Participants can access up to 12 contact hours of nursing CE without building the entire weekend around a classroom schedule.

Opportunities for individualized learning.

CE offerings will focus primarily on self-paced learning, allowing participants greater choice in what they explore and when.

Small-group learning opportunities.

Select learning experiences may also be offered in intimate groups where conversation and shared experience can become part of the learning.

Meaningful connection with other nurses.

With only 20 participants, the UNRETREAT™ creates room for relationships and conversations that are difficult to create in a large conference environment.

Reflection and personal growth.

This isn't about fixing what's wrong with you.

It's about creating enough space to think about what you need, what matters, and what you want more of in the life you're building.

How to Ask Your Employer

Don't simply walk into your manager's office and ask:

"Will you pay for my retreat?"

Help them understand the professional-development component of the experience.

Start by finding out:

Does my organization have a continuing education allowance?

Do I have professional-development funds available?

Are registration fees for approved CE activities eligible for reimbursement?

Does reimbursement apply only to registration, or can travel and lodging also qualify?

Is pre-approval required?

What documentation will I need?

Are there deadlines for submitting a request?

Then make the request according to your organization's process.

We've created a resource to help.

Give Yourself Time to Ask.

The Nurse UNRETREAT™ doesn't begin until April 15, 2027.

That's intentional.

You have time to investigate your benefits.

Talk with your manager.

Submit paperwork.

Request PTO.

Plan your travel.

And make arrangements for everything that needs your attention while you're away.

But don't wait until the last minute to start asking questions.

Some employers have approval processes, annual budget limitations, or reimbursement deadlines.

Start the conversation now.

A Few Important Things to Know

We want to be completely transparent.

Nurses Feed Their Young® cannot guarantee employer, union, or other third-party reimbursement.

Every organization's policies, eligible expenses, approval requirements, and funding availability are different.

Your employer may cover all, part, or none of your expenses.

Participation in continuing education during The Nurse UNRETREAT™ is optional.

Specific 2027 CE activities are still being developed and will be announced as the retreat approaches.

And your employer should make the final determination about whether your registration or related expenses qualify for reimbursement under its policies.

Our role is to give you accurate information about the UNRETREAT™ and resources that can help you make the request.

Don't Make the Decision for Them.

It's easy to think:

My employer would never pay for something like this.

Maybe they won't.

But maybe there's an education benefit you haven't used.

Maybe professional-development funding is available.

Maybe your union contract includes an allowance you've never explored.

Maybe your manager is willing to support part of the investment.

You won't know until you ask.

Let them make the decision.

Your job is simply to start the conversation.
